at rei, i was in conversation with a lady who worked there. she asked me about college and where i was from. i told her i was from apex, and she knew where that was because her son is in raleigh. she asks my name, i tell her. she compliments my name saying it’s cool. i ask what her’s is, and she responds by saying her name is basic then revealing it’s kathy. i told her it’s not basic, it’s classic.
names are cool because they are typically a reflection of culture/society at the time you were born. names are often times generational such as hank and barbara. there’s a lot of kelseys and matts around my age for example that i’m not sure will be around in abundance in the next generation.
cool? classic? both? whatever it is, it’s the second gift given to us.
the first is life.
