you ever drive around aimlessly because you’re on the phone? well fresh out of ap lab, i was riding around talking to chan on the phone looking for something to eat. he was telling me how he bought our niece a new laptop today before he went on to invite me to busch gardens. when the conversation concluded, i ended up in harrisburg. i hadn’t eaten all day, so i was starving. i looked around and saw andy’s. the last time i had andy’s was in 2017. it’s a shame because ever since they moved the one by university walmart, i haven’t been able to find a convenient location. i walked in, got sat, and ordered. man, i felt old. they still had stacked cars for the kids meals and the shrimp platter was still on the menu. they also have the johnboy and billy burger on the menu, which was first introduced when i worked there. it did so well, i guess they kept it for the next 10 years. wish they would’ve did the same with the crab cakes.
i got the andy’s double cheeseburger combo with fries. when the meal came out, it tasted just how i remembered it: so, so good. i don’t know if it’s the nostalgia or the seasoning, but andy’s cheeseburgers top 2 burgers i’ve ever had. i grabbed an oreo milkshake to go. it was good, but it wasn’t as good as the ones waitresses used to make me when i worked there. as i was leaving, i saw a tatted white dude get dropped off smoking a cigarette. he had his andy’s uniform on and he reminded me of b back in the days. it was so ironic.
i drove home thinking of the kid i was when i was working at andy’s and how i’m not him any more.
although at times, i’d be glad to be.
