yesterday after the vet, a usps lady dropped off a big barker for bagel. i’ve had an eye out on this bed since 2017, but with btg getting older, he deserved this bed more than ever now. i let it decompress for the suggested minimum of 24 hours + 6 extra hours. i showered, then laid the bed next to mine. he was curious about it, but didn’t lay on it. i had anticipated this because the bed only has a headrest, not a padded border how he prefers. only when i put his old bed on it, he laid there. one of big barker’s many selling points is a pressure test. they say their bed won’t flatten for 10 years, and that most other dog beds will flatten over time causing joint problems. i put my hand in between bagel’s old and new bed while he was laying and i felt his body through the old ‘orthopedic’ mattress. this means his bed had been flattened for a minute.
especially with yesterday’s diagnosis of his left elbow, getting the big barker was a much-needed upgrade. i hope bagel will learn to love it sooner rather than later.
(it’s imperative for him to sleep on his new bed due to the extreme health benefits he will reap!!)
