on the phone with mom today, she asked about bagel. he’s doing better, and when i told her that, she told me grandpa always asks if bagel is okay. as he is getting older, he tends to forget things, but he asks her throughout the day how bagel is doing. that is the sweetest thing i done heard in a hot minute. i love my grandpa and all my grandparents. they’re the people who raised the people who raised me. it’s common knowledge of course, but it doesn’t resonate until i sit and think on it. when he came down with mom to visit in october, him and bagel got along well. i don’t know what it is, but men in my family have this motherly instinct when it comes down to bagel because they always try to feed him. dad does this, chan does this, and grandpa did this when he met bagel. i would too, if i didn’t have to deal with repercussion of begging and acting up lol.
regardless, bagel is doing better and it made my day when mom said grandpa asks frequently about him.
