arm pumping, 5.19.22

no matter how much things change, it seems as if tradition will find itself through generation after generation. on the way to work i got caught in traffic (as always) and i saw a line of school buses. every single bus, there were so many kids pumping their arms at truck drivers trying to get them to honk their horn. i don’t know where that tradition first came from or who i learned it from, but i did it as a kid, too. it made me remember when we were caught up in traffic one time visiting california. i pumped my arm at a trucker and he just smiled. he didn’t honk his horn and i felt so embarrassed that i asked chan for his trading card binder. i held it up over my face until the traffic had passed us lmao. when i came back down to earth after reminiscing, the kids were still arm pumping.

i had to get off on exit 21 to get to work, but i hope they got a few honks out of truckers on this morning commute.
