bagel’s stool this morning was forming and looked good compared to how they have been looking this past week. i thought it was all hood until he started throwing up. he refused to eat lunch, then threw up 3 times. after throwing up, he had 3 bowel movements within 2 hours that were all liquid. i took him to animal medical hospital emergency and it was packed. when we pulled up, a lady told me on the phone they had a stat come in and it would be a few moments before they could get bagel. 20 minutes later, they get bagel. i sit and write for 20 minutes, then decide to pick something up to eat. i wanted to try something new, so i went to south 21 off independence. it was less than half a mile away and it looked good. i pulled up, ordered, and picked up the meal from inside. i hadn’t been eating a lot since bagel has been sick, plus i hadn’t ate all day so this was needed. as i’m eating, i get a call from the hospital. all in all, bagel’s fecal examination was negative for worms, giardia, etc. she prescribed me 3 medications, did an anti-nausea shot, and filled bagel up with 700ml of fluid. when he came out, the lady said bagel did well. i asked if he pooped inside and she told me he did. although i brought a fecal sample in, i wanted him to have a bowel movement in front of them so they could see all the water he was pooping out. i wish i was there to clean it, but due to covid, we can’t be in there with our children. regardless, we just got home. i filled bagel’s bowl up and he’s not eating. most likely because he’s had a stressful day, a stressful week. the most positive is that throughout this whole debacle, he’s never lost a step in terms of energy. he’s been ready to chase rabbits, walk, and run despite losing 8lbs (10%) of his weight in the last 8 days.
bagel, my son, my warrior. we’ll get through this soon!
