a special love, 7.28.19

a lady came in with a handicapped kid. he was running all over the place touching things, exploring. if i had to guess, he was around 7 years old. he didn’t speak, but i could tell he was having fun just being in the store. he was curious, playful, and innocent, as every kid should be. throughout all the things he did, not once did the lady lose her cool with him. she followed him and took care of him. she was kind and asked about the the sign outside the store giving discounts to bike riders. i told her i had never scanned anyone’s helmet, but we do offer it. she brought up perhaps offering something for handicapped kids to bring awareness and i thought it was a grand idea. moments after she left, i sat back thinking on her time in the store with her son. what an awesome guy with an awesome mother. their love is special and seeing things like that in real life give me hope and inspiration.

for we could all use a little more patience, a little more acceptance, and a little more curiosity.
