i stopped at a burger king in virginia today. it was in the middle of nowhere. i love these kinds of places because they’re untouched by modern-day in a way. the bk was how i remembered bk looking as a kid. the booths were lined with colorful geometric patterns. they had an arcade with 90’s games in a separate connected room. i got my food to go and ate in my car with the company of bagel. i bought him a plain hamburger as a treat. i thought a bit about the people who worked at places like these. where did they live? were they happy? how quiet were their lives? they must lead peaceful lives out here. i finished my food and went about my way. eager to get home, yet dreading getting back into the mix of things.
we could all use a little more peace in our lives.
