a changing love, 3.3.20

i ran into coach earlier tonight with bagel. he asked about school and filled me in on his life. it’s good to see him back out walking, especially after his back injury. the trails don’t seem right when we don’t run into each other. as we were conversing, a car drives by and he says it’s his wife. he didn’t wave, and i asked him why. he always told me she was somewhat sick, but every time i saw her, she seemed alright. coach told me they barely speak and that they live on opposite ends of the house. he said she used to drink heavy, and some days she still does. i felt deep when he told me that, because he’s always smiling from ear to ear cracking jokes. love changes as do lovers, but that change isn’t always for the better. he really means it when he says he’d go crazy if he stayed in the house all day. it makes me appreciate seeing him out on another level. it’s almost as if walking is his santuary away from home, kind of like how it is with bagel and i.

coach told me tonight i’m a good guy with a good spirit about me, but i couldn’t help but to share the same sentiments about him.

my guy, for real.
