a few minutes ago, a customer came in and signed up for our rewards program. his number began with 845, and immediately i asked if he was from new york. i haven’t met many people from that area, in fact, the only people i’ve met from the 845 is dbaze and jimmy g. i brought up middletown and the galleria mall to which he responded his parents used to own retail spots there.
after he left, i found that conversation to be triggering of many memories i haven’t remembered in a long time. i remember being at the galleria and opening a pack of pokemon cards with andrew ecstatically to find a blaine’s arcanine. i remember eating at wendy’s in the food court right outside eb games when we’d go to the mall. this was the yellow wendy’s, the legendary wendy’s. i remember listening to avril lavigne sk8r boi fantasizing about me being the guy avril was writing about in the third verse. i remember life in warwick as a dream. what’s crazy is now as an adult, i wouldn’t pick to live in warwick, which leads me to believe that life is more about appreciation of what’s given to you rather than what you make possibilities out to be before manifestation.
i could be wrong, but i’m still learning.
