March Madness 2025
The best time of the year is Fall, no doubt about it, but there is something special about March. College sports, especially college basketball, is the epitome of passion, sport, and competition. The last two months of college basketball are the most exciting. You have Duke vs UNC twice, then the conference tournaments, then March Madness. Like many people, I love the Super Bowl, but to me, the men’s college basketball tournament is not only the most exciting, but the most difficult championship to win. These players are battling against the top 64 teams out of a pool of 364. From upsets to buzzer-beaters to heartbreaks, March Madness has it all and more.
I was a day late filling out my bracket this year, but it wouldn’t have mattered if I was on time either way because my bracket was cooked after the first weekend. I had UNC, St. John, Duke, and Tennessee in my Final Four. Only one made it and two were knocked out in the first weekend. I have Duke winning every year and I really thought this year was ours to lose. The loss to Houston was a heartbreaker. Sure, it’s the most recent, but I think as time passes it will remain one of the worst losses I’ve experienced as a Cameron Crazy. Everything had to go right for Houston while everything had to go wrong for Duke for it to end the way it did. The only loss that hurts more is our Final Four loss to UNC in the Final Four for Coach K’s last game. Even that year it felt like the stars were going to align, but we fell short then, too. This year was special and so were the players. This year’s team was my favorite Duke squad ever. With NIL deals and the transfer portal, college basketball teams are all one of one. It’s not like the NBA where guys stay for years and years, a lot of teams get broken up post-season, coaches included, which is why these losses sit with you and sting. I really wish we could’ve won one, but still a hell of a season regardless. I’m proud of my guys and everything they’ve accomplished these past 6 months.
Until next year, we’ll still have our sights on 6.
