adding to the collection, i bought a g shock that came in. it’s a collaboration between bait and they took inspiration from vintage apple mac computers. it’s an off-white/grey case and strap with a black face along with green accents. i like it. the only con is it’s hard to read in certain light conditions. it’s a nice watch i can wear without the worry of damaging it. plus, every collection needs a g shock, right?
right??

it only took 2.5 years but chewed through my last set of nightguards. today, i went back to the dentist to get fitted for another set. they didn’t mold my teeth, instead they used this wand that took pictures of your teeth from different angles and made a 3d model. that was too advanced for me to comprehend. it was cool seeing the digital model on the screen as i left. i went to get some chinese afterwards, then to walmart to pick up a few things.
though insurance didn’t cover most of my dental visit, an afternoon away from work is priceless.

earlier this week, jeremy asked me about how my goal of running a mile a day for lent was going. i told him it’s gotten easier, but my times haven’t really shown that, especially because i have this dull discomfort in my right knee. google says it’s runner’s knee and i didn’t want to investigate further for my anxiety’s sake. he said i looked slimmer, which some days i feel as well. tonight, i was thinking of going to get burgers, but instead i went to sweet green. i was still hungry afterwards. i almost walked to wahlburgers, but i thought about it, then drove to playa bowls for an acai bowl with fruit instead. though we all deserve to enjoy ourselves, i hope making the right decision tonight turns into making the right decision again and again until a habit is built.
i might treat myself to red robin this weekend as i’m craving their chicken fingers, but maybe that’s just another opportunity to make the right choice as there’s a sweetgreen and playa bowl right next to each other across the street from red robin.

i picked my parents up from arizona today. they spent two weeks with ta over there visiting oum sauth and other family. on the way back, i asked my dad how the trip was. he said it was nice and it made him want to travel more. he said he might spend a few weeks here and there. it made me happy to hear that because my dad deserves whatever he wants out of this life and now he finally has an opportunity to do the things he’s always wanted to do.
seems like he has wanderlust, i wonder where he’ll go next.

while the sequoia was being serviced, i walked to green tea and had their general gau chicken with pork fried rice and an egg roll. afterwards, i went to the walmart across the street. knowing i had time, i was browsing damn near every item in the store. since the chinese food made me thirsty, i was looking for a drink. i came across the clear american wild cherry. i thought i was hallucinating at first because i hadn’t seen this flavor since 2017 or 2018. i used to buy the 12 packs they had every walmart trip, then they disappeared out of nowhere. it’s the best flavor hands down, no questions asked. just as i picked a bottle up, i got a call saying the sequoia was ready for pick up. i checked out, walked to toyota, then paid for the services. when i got in the sequoia and was able to take the first sip, it was better than i had remembered.
i have to come back to stock up this weekend.

utz are my favorite chip brand. it was bigger in the 90’s and i think it was a budget brand, but they have the best chips on the market. their sour cream and onion is the more flavorful by a mile and they’re rippled. i also enjoy their honey bbq, which again, is best in category in my opinion. i went to target and walmart and couldn’t find them. i didn’t see any utz. target, i didn’t expect to see them, but walmart surprised me. that’s the only thing i’m craving right now (besides sweets, of course) and i can’t find them, smh. sometimes life is torture.
unfortunately for me this is one of of those times.

i woke up a bit late, so i chose to walk bagel instead of run my mile before basketball. i pulled up to danvers and hooped for 2 hours straight with the boys, but once i got back home, bagel was itching for another walk so we went on our 2nd one for the day. immediately afterwards, i ran my mile and it was so slow. i was tired, but i still got it done. i just got out the shower and am about to meet p at maya for dinner.
i haven’t ate all day and nothing sounds better than a plate of tikka masala along with a mango lassi.

i went to get my brake pads replaced at toyota atlantic in lynn. they said they didn’t have the brake pads as they don’t keep them in stock for cars as old as the sequoia, so i’ll have to come back another day next week. while they were inspecting my car, i walked to green tea to eat some chinese food. i haven’t been since i went the first time with the guys after one of our volo games in january, but it was as good as i had remembered it. i ordered the calamari and had the general gau’s lunch special with an egg roll. while i was waiting for the sequoia, i filled out my march madness bracket and then wrote a little. i came home and bagel is too excited to go on a walk. i’ll have to walk, then watch the rest of duke’s game, then eventually run my mile for the day as much as i don’t want to.
the end of lent is still so far away smh.

chan called tonight to catch up and we got to talking about money. when he brought it up, it reminded me to check if my bonus had hit. i told him i tried to change my 401k contributions last minute before my bonus hit so i had some extra money to spend, but when i checked it didn’t. my 401k ate whatever was left of my bonus after taxes. it’s all good though. i went back to my benefits page and changed my contributions accordingly. i should max out my 401k by august if i did the math correctly. i should’ve paid attention earlier, aka when the merger hit, but they say the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second-best time is now.
the same can be said with your 401k.
